All I Can Say Is...

Today was a rough day in mommyhood.  Oy.  Work-life balance just took on a whole new meaning for me.  Thank goodness for cuteness like this to keep my chin up:

Loungin' on Mommy

Pardon my 'side-boob'...but really, she is so darn cute.  And they make 'em that way for a reason!  Thankful for Josh, Take-Out Indian Food, and Car Rides that made this evening a big improvement from this afternoon.  Tomorrow, Tomorrow I love ya, Tomorrow!  GOODnight :-)

Two Month Stats

We had Harper's Two Month Well-Baby check-up this afternoon!  Our pediatrician is Dr. Cox with After Hours Pediatrics, and we LOVE her.  She is such a genuine, sweet woman who is definitely on the same page with Josh and I when it comes to Harper's well-being.  Just can't say enough good things about her.

Anywho, our visit went wonderfully!  Harper is growing exactly as she should.

Official doctor comments/measurements are in:

Weight:
11.15 pounds (53rd percentile)

Length:
23 inches (70th percentile-tall girl!)

Motor Skills:
Harper is chewing on her hands like crazy!  This used to be one of her 'hunger' signals, but now it's changed into a learning/entertainment thing for her.  She's also cooing, smiling, and giggling.  Doc was super happy to see her developing so well at two months.

Mommy Worries Put To Rest:
Harper has been a huge spit-upper since day one.  It's always made me upset.  I hate when she just does a giant projectile vomit after she's eaten--it always looks like it was everything she just ate.  But, Doc assured us that it was seriously no big deal.  Her growth and development is looking great-so she's obviously getting everything she needs.  And since she's usually not in pain and crying when this happens, it's really not anything I need to worry about.  She said that around 4 months her esophageal sphincter will strengthen, and this is usually about the time babies stop erping up so much.  Yay!  Hopefully only two more months of chronic baby spit-up!

Other Comments:
Harper is super sleeper!  And Harper has b-e-a-utiful skin!

Two Months!

Harper Jane is 2 months old today!  Look at this happy, thriving little sweet potato!

Her 2 month well-baby check-up is next week--but as far as we can tell, she weighs somewhere between 11.5 and 12 pounds and measures about 23.5 inches long.

She is smiley, smiley, smiley!  Especially in the morning.  She is not QUITE laughing...almost there.  Right now she will just do a loud SQUEAK with a huge smile on her face :-D

She is also getting really good at holding her head up and I can face her 'out' in her baby bjorn carrier.

I am loving her sleep schedule right now and Josh and I have a great system worked out.  We give her a bath around 8, I nurse her last at 9:30 and I head to bed around 10, Josh then takes her and finishes getting her to sleep and then comes to bed (in which I am already out cold).  She's usually asleep by 10:30, sleeps until 3:30, nurses, back to sleep by 4:30, and then awake again between 7 and 8.  Not too shabby!  For her next step, I'd love her to get to bed a bit earlier so Josh and I actually have some time together at night.

Her interests right now include her Baby Einstein Gym, this little pink hanging dragonfly thing, patterns, bath time, being naked, and music.  Her dragonfly toy is next to her changing table and she absolutely has a blast just banging it around while she is getting her diaper changed.  She's obviously working towards grabbing things and gets really happy when she makes this happen!  Music makes her happy and calm.  She also is downright giddy when mommy sings to her-which is good because I'm always singing!  Josh is super playful and silly with her which always makes her smile from ear to ear and squeak-out a little 'laugh'-she's already a daddy's girl!

Happy two months, baby girl!  We love you to the moon, Harper Bear, Doodle Bug, Sweet Potato...

WaterBaby!

This past Sunday we had our yoga meeting at one of our favorite yogi Tammy's house.  Spouses and families came too.  Well, while I'm in our teacher meeting, I look out the window and Josh has decided to give Harper her first taste of the pool!  The other kiddos were taking a dip and I guess he couldn't resist!  Harper was unsure at first...but then decided she liked it :-)

Little water baby - following in her daddy's footsteps!

Women's Voices Concert

On Saturday night we went out to the Albuquerque Museum to listen to the New Mexico Jazz Workshop's amazing Women's Voice concert.  Harper joined Josh, my Mom, my Grandma, and myself for the outing.  We all REALLY enjoyed the evening which was a tribute to Etta James-such great music and so much talent from Albuquerque locals!!  We also managed to snap some great pictures of all of us:

I love you!

Grandma's Birthday!

Thursday, July 12 was my mom's 55th birthday!  So great to have her here to celebrate.  We went out to dinner in Cedar Crest with Josh, Harper, my Grandma, my Aunt Mary, and my Uncle David, ate barbecue, and she drank some margarita's (her favorite!).  Since she is leaving on Tuesday and will miss Harper SO much, I did a special photo shoot and made her an awesome birthday present to hang up in Galveston.  I framed these two pictures below for her:

Obviously, she loved them!!  Harper is totally "Grandma's Sweetheart" and Grandma REALLY is "The BEST!"  Love you, Mom :-)

New Toys!!

Harper is growing so fast!  It really is hard for me to believe she is moving out of the 'infant' phase and into the 'baby' phase.  Let the fun begin!!  Last week my mom bought Harper a new present-the Baby Einstein Gym.  We thought that she probably was a little too young to totally appreciate it, but we were wrong!  She is already loving this new toy!  Playing with this awesome baby gym has become a new part of our routine-an instant go-to when she is feeling a little restless.  It is so fun to watch her play, and she is immediately entertained and happy for a pretty good amount of time!  I can even walk away for a bit to fold laundry or do some other little chore.  Love it!  Here's the little lady enjoying her new gift:

Gramma, Mia, and Daddy entertained by Harper playing!
My new nickname for our pup is "MamaMia" as she loves to supervise all baby activities.  Such a good nanny-dog!
Two Loves
So, our new discovery that Harper is ready for toys led my mom and I to a small shopping spree at Babies R Us for some MORE fun stuff.  Can't wait to watch her play, grow, and learn how to do new things with her new gadgets!
